About Us

The HIV/AIDS pandemic and the socio-economic challenges that the country is facing depletes the country’s resources. This has led to an increase in the number of orphans and vulnerable children (around 55000 registered). This threatens the survival, upbringing, care, education and general protection and wellbeing of these children.

To complement Government efforts and strengthen community initiatives in the care of these children, The Masiela (orphans) Trust Fund was established in 2001 and launched by his Excellency the President of Botswana Mr Festus Mogae. In mitigating these effects, a multisectoral approach has been adopted, with partnerships forged from all sectors of the society; government, private sector, Non Governmental (NGOs), community based (CBOs) and Faith Based (FBOs) organisations in providing physical, psychosocial and spiritual needs of these children .

The Trust is managed by a Board of Trustees of eight (8) members with enormous support from the Patron.  Operations are run by the Secretariat in Gaborone.
