Establshed Parnerships
From humble beginnings, several entities have contributed resources (financial, technical and material) towards profiling the Trust and enhanced the development of best practice interventions in child care and protection. Their valuable initiatives assisted the Trust to achieve its core mandate of meeting the immediate needs of orphans and vulnerable children. Interventions have since been scaled up from assisting only three needy students to reaching most identified deserving cases through established partnerships with local authorities and implementing organizations. Establishments which have assisted immensely to the Trust include but not limited to the following ;
Cresta Marakanelo
Cresta Marakanelo’s commitment to the Trust continues to be an inspiration. It was the first business entity to respond to the Former President’s call to join the fight against HIV/AIDS. Since Cresta started their partnership with the Fund by pledging P1 per bed per night in all its hotels in the country, they have contributed close to P1 million. While this commitment upholds the vision 2016 principle of “Building a Compassionate, just and Caring Nation” it is also a true reflection of Botswana society. Batswana believe, that “motho ke motho ka batho ba bangwe”. Through such funding, the Trust was able to extend financing for construction of Child care centers, & housing units and scholarships at various institutions for deserving cases..
W.K. Kellogg Foundation’s partnership with Masiela Trust was timely. They helped the Trust to develop successful models of community driven strategies to respond to the increasing burden of vulnerable children.
As part of their 75th anniversary, W.K. Kellogg Foundation granted Human Science Research Council (HSRC) of South Africa funds amounting to $5,000,000 to implement research driven, evidence-based , intervention programmes to assist children, families and communities affected by HIV/AIDS in Botswana, South Africa and Zimbabwe over five years............ more
Masiela Trust Fund is was in partnership with a South African based organization called Olive Leaf Foundation (OLF) which capacitates organisations in terms of programmes and allocating budgets for the programmes. This addressed areas of OVC care and support and behavioral change Programme (ABY) of which 12000 children were reached and assisted in 16 organisations across the country.
OVC Programmes This increased provision of comprehensive, family-centred integrated OVC care and HIV/AIDS prevention which packaged multiple and well-defined services........... more

The Trust’s delivery mechanism is largely through Community Based Organisations, which are spread across the country. Thus the effectiveness of these delivery agents is an issue of interest to the Trust.
- The Government as custodian of children creates an enabling environment to ensure that quality service is provided and that it meets appropriate standards. The participation of the government has helped to profile the Trust and garner support from all sectors of the society including the private sector.
- Communities initiate and own the programmes in their respective settings.
- OVC and caregivers as the principal/direct beneficiaries in these programmes participate and collaborate in the initiatives towards self sustenance.
- Non Governmental Organisations (NGO’s) Community Based Organisations (CBO’s) and Faith Based Organisations (FBO’s) also implement and play a major advocacy role on OVC issues
- Business Community – The Trust currently has partnerships with a range of business enterprises some of whom have made on-going commitment to assist the Trust. Cresta Marakanelo Hotels group is one such entity that has been playing a leading role by contributing to the Trust since launching.
- Developmental Partners provide technical assistance in the form of policy review and programme development. The Trust has benefited from a 5-year partnership with W Kellogg Foundation in the development and documentation of best practice intervention methods in OVC care.
- Media creates awareness and plays an advocacy role on the rights and welfare of children. The Trust has enjoyed enormous support from the local media through dissemination of the activities of the Trust and other issues relating to children.
